College Course Equivalent: 6 credit hours at TC3 (HSTY 201/HSTY 202)
Content: This Advanced Placement Program in American History is intended for qualified students who wish to complete studies in secondary school equivalent to a college introductory course in this field. It is designed to provide students with the analytic skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in American History. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those of full-year introductory courses. Students should learn to assess historical materials (their relevance to a given interpretive problem, their reliability, and their importance) and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship. This course is accredited through Tompkins Cortland Community College for six (6) hours of college credit. Completion of the AP Exam is required to receive AP credit. Completion of the TC3 final examination is required to receive TC3 credit.
